Saturnia, the Terme, Maremma... where we are and how to get here. Hotel Saturnia, located in the center of an area of outstanding archeological, natural and historical interest, is the ideal start point to discover the Maremma and its beauties.

:: SATURNIA

The Village of Saturnia is  perched on a hill that dominates the valley of the Water Springs and the Albegna river. The environment develops around the great Piazza Vittorio Veneto with the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena, la Porta Romana and the Rione Bagnosecco behind it. The rione district and the Aurina street, which is the access to the country, are on the opposite side. Today, Saturnia is a quiet district with barely 300 inhabitants, but it used to be a relevant Etruscan center and a commonly referenced Roman city. The picture on the right shows the Porta Romana, an ancient gateway to the country with the original pavement of the Via Clodia, antique consular road that joined Saturnia with Rome.
Around this area there are diverse spots to admire the Etruscan Roman remains, such as the Necropoli del Puntone (VII b.c.). As the evening progresses, the streets of the district are brightened up by the soft lights of the little restaurants that offer tasty typical dishes, to be sampled while sipping on the obligated glass of Morellino di Scansano D.O.C.

:: THE THERMAL SPRINGS OF SATURNIA

The Sulphureous waters of the thermal springs of Saturnia have emerged at the unstoppable speed of 800 liters per second for more than two thousand years, at the constant temperature of  37,5°C. The source is inside the thermal complex Hotel Terme di Saturnia, with diverse pools and SPA treatments. Along the premises runs a sulphuric stream that ends up creating the reknown Cascata del Mulino, where the entrance is open for the public and bathing is a must do!

:: THE SURROUNDINGS

Saturnia represents the hilly part of the Maremma Toscana, in between Monte Amiata, an enchanting village of central Italy, and Costa dell'Argentario, one of the most exclusive spots to bathe in the area.
